January 1, 2024, it’s dated, but sure looks like October.
I am truly blessed with caring and friendly neighbors, so that it would be difficult to get lonely. This is one of my fave pics of KR, a young schoolteacher, walking her little dog, Red’s first girlfriend, with Red and me trailing along behind. It sure looks like fall, although annotated as a year ago today. I have seen her grow up from infancy since she lives with her exceptional parents in the house on the corner.
Happy New Year by the Way!
Then there is C who visits us most every night with N, Red’s second girlfriend. While we chat about the day’s events, the little doggies snack, chew fake sticks, romp and slap til they are tired. Red waits in the open doorway for their arrival and notifies us excitedly as soon as he sees them coming. Then he tells me when good-byes are in order with big brown sober eyed stares.
Today dear young F stopped in with her mom during their walk in the soft snowstorm. We all sat in my warm back room; I had the pleasure of watching her play on the floor with Red and his toys as mom and I chatted. Such a delight, such a long while since any sweeter time spent with a child.
P&JC invited us spontaneously to a homey New Year’s Eve supper yesterday. What a treat that was, and not for the first time. I truly appreciate their thoughtful, kind attention to us! They will join us to watch the Big Game, with snacks, this afternoon.
Oh, yes… RDA drove here for tea and tea :) yesterday about sundown. Oldest and dearest too much to call her? Except probably for SB, who texted New Year greetings from Fla several times in the last 24.
I am Lucky indeed!
