Waiting room, 7-10-26
Flamingo lily.
S called at 6:15 am, just from ER. Golf ball size lump developed in her breast. They said get a mammogram. She said doc not willing to treat her, no offer of imaging, gave her a phone# for pcp referral. Her pcp was suspended. She usually got mammo with self referral, by law, she insists and I think she’s correct. She also will check with Convenient Care and I said ask if their docs can be pcps, I heard they could. Also said don’t discuss her complaints about doctors and set her off from calm to rage, starting with “don’t lecture me”. She hung up on me.
I associated my absence from RB webs this week , associating my dread of dealing with Stephon who is only one of the many problematic people I seem to deal with all the time, painfully
I also reacted to A. It’s painful to deal with his reactions and repetitions and vocal tone. I cut him off often and he feels it, but I don’t know what else to do. Like when I told S, “I’m tired of hearing you talk
But the day is a beauty, and I’m comfortable at the infusion clinic right now. Met Dave who has been coming here 8 years , a frequent flyer he said. Struck me how friendly and patient he is, that people could be if they chose. Asked my name, great way to engage with strangers. Wish my dear ones would employee it.
N will come after noon, and I’m expecting two landscapers to evaluate and quote a fix for the retaining wall today or tomorrow.
Before I left the infusion center, an old man fell down and banged his head perhaps leaving blood and a bruise, although I didn’t see that. Sounded like a huge plate of dishes, dropping in a restaurant. Then all the nurses jumped and ran, crying out call 911. That’s struck me as ironic, sine most of the people in there are nurses surrounded by doctors in three buildings, but none of them with the right specialty—ER. Man’s wife was the infusion patient and they settled him in a wheelchair next to her while they got her treatment going Parameds came in, and I was again impressed by the quality and compassion of their work. Talking to Liz later, she said they are grossly underpaid The man’s wife was dismayed of course, repeating that he keeps falling down. Med report recorded 2 falls in the last year, one with injured rib. But he still. needed to drive them home since she could not, so declined to go to hospital for check up. Getting old creates such foreseeable problems.
